Western Leaders Network, Appalachian Leaders Network respond to Colorado Gov. Jared Polis decision to commute sentence of Tina Peters:

“Tina Peters was convicted of four felonies and three misdemeanors by a jury of her peers for illegally breaching the very election systems that county clerks and local election administrators work tirelessly every day to protect and defend. At a time when local election officials everywhere are facing unprecedented harassment and intimidation just for doing their jobs, Governor Polis' decision to commute Peters’ sentence sends a demoralizing message, which is that those who undermine our democratic values and infrastructure may face little consequence. We remain committed to defending free, fair and safe elections and supporting the local officials who oversee them.”
